Crocheted Toys

6/27/2013

I have been looking for ideas for a new addition to the website. I would like to do a page for children. I'm not just talking about sweaters, hats, mittens, and scarves. I want to make playthings for the kids.
I am making a hand puppet for my little niece. I have found a pattern, but I'm going to be late with the present. I tried a puppet and failed. My rounds started getting bigger and bigger. I have no clue where I went wrong so I had to start a new puppet. (I'm that kind of crocheter.)
So it got me thinking what other "toys" I can make. I have a pattern for sock monkeys. I don't know what people would like to give their younger relatives. I am a person who treasures the past so I think it is great to give them a keepsake that will stand the test of time. How many of us have seen Antique Roadshow? Some of those dolls and toys are worth thousands of dollars. Of course, my things will never a monetary value, but it could create a wonderful memory for the little ones or even the big kids in our lives.
Tell me what other toys or dolls you would like to see on the website for purchase.
P.S.- When my puppet is done I'll put up a picture for all to see.

Let Me Introduce Myself

6/9/2013

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to the first post of my new blog. My goal is to share ideas with other crocheters, who are looking for fun projects. I love sharing ideas with other people. I also like getting ideas from other people.
I started my crocheting journey back in my Freshman year of college. I was looking for something to do that would not be terribly expensive or time consuming. I just needed something to do with my hands and be useful.
I had one problem. My mom knew how to crochet, but she was left-handed and I was right-handed. She tried to teach me how to do granny squares, but it just didn't work out. I decided to keep trying and taught myself. From that day forward, I have not stopped looking up patterns, buying yarn (I have two big tubs!), or trying "new" techniques.
If you don't crochet (yet) or have not crocheted in years, I hope that you are inspired to take up a hook and a skein of yarn and start creating.
So to achieve my goal of sharing ideas in this first post, please let me know.

What got you started crocheting or interested in crocheting?

    Meet K.T.

Hello! I'm a stay-at-home mom of two little ones. I love to learn more about crocheting from other crocheters. I'm always on the lookout for gifts to give friends or a good blanket.
